Collection: William Weiss - The Space Between Us: Local Color and Landscapes

An exploration and interpretation of the objects and landscapes that surround and inspire us.

I love to enjoy the outdoors with friends and family.  The Space Between Us reflects my experience of connection while enjoying the outdoors, both with myself and with others.

My paintings seek to capture the everyday beauty of our world, the moments we experience as we take time to view and immerse ourselves in our surroundings.

I am lucky to have been raised in Colorado, not only for the spectacular beauty of our mountains and towns, but for the opportunity to enjoy hiking, climbing, skiing and all the beauty in our backyard.

Moreover, having all the wonderful painters and their art in our community inspires me, and motivated me to take a painting class some years ago. I was immediately captivated by the process of painting, how exciting, challenging, and rewarding it was. Applying oil paint to canvas has become a surprising passion.

Ever since that first class I continue to paint and take lessons from local studios and instructors. I often sketch scenes of interest from my travels; climbing peaks, hiking trails, or simply visiting our parks and towns.  I usually paint in my home studio from photos I’ve taken or views I’ve enjoyed.  For this exhibit I have painted mostly local views, from my garden, Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods as well as from surrounding areas.

I hope you enjoy my colorful expressions.
