Lisa Wallace Deen - July 10, 2026 – Come for a walk with me. The air is cool now, and the neighborhood is quiet. Do you see the sunset? The light reflects off the clouds. The vastness of the sky soothes our minds. Vast, deep, transparent, immersive. The colors. The colors aren’t contained in chloroform and physical matter. They erupt without limits to fill our senses.

The darkness of the mountain interrupts the light display with a large solid mass. The contrast is magnificent. Infinite space, light, color – the depths of which spark our imaginations and populate our dreams. It is the call to our hearts for something more than the materiality of the earth. We walk, acutely aware of the physical nature of our surroundings on the surface of the earth. The mountains, the rocks, the trees, even the houses and cars. No one else is out now.  We are here with two great opposing forces which work in tandem to keep the earth rotating and our individual and collective lives moving forward.

The generous sunlight rises each morning to fill our space with energy and life. The merciful sun sets at night to give us rest and healing. The physical world responds with birth and life and death. This beautiful perfect cycle is slow, continuous work. It is the work of love.

We shall rest and we shall see.

We shall see and we shall know.

We shall know and we shall love.

We shall love and we shall praise.
