My process is bizarre. These vessels start out on a pottery wheel. A controlled furry of sorts. There is a certain rage to it, one must dominate the clay in the most intimate and gentle way possible. Strong but consistent. Then comes the violence of the process. This stage is less controlled. I may choose the weapon, bullet and aim with intentionality but the clay will respond unpredictably almost every time. This is important as it creates vessels that represent the tool authentically. Such power is difficult to control and hard to predict, which is apparent in the originality of each piece.
