Collection: Nancy Roach - The Unthought: Evocations of a Colorado Landscape

I create exciting, energetic, and spontaneous abstract paintings. The stunning Colorado Landscape inspires my work. As a young woman in my 20s, I extensively explored these rocky landscapes as a rock climber-climbing in Lumpy Ridge and Rocky Mountain National Park. I no longer climb, but am still active in the mountains. This wilderness continues to affect my artwork and my paintings remember the dramatic canyons, rivers, and mountains of the West.

In my collection of paintings “The Unthought:  An Evocation of the Colorado Landscape,”  I am painting my experiences in the mountains of Colorado. These acrylics are created from the resplendent imprints of the many places I have traveled. There are no photographs involved here, in fact, the only planning entails some value and color studies.  I am trying to capture the energy and vitality of the weather and the landscape along with some fantastical elements that may or may not connect us to a parallel timeline in an alternate universe.
