Collection: Shallow Breath
Elizabeth Selby
An oil painter by trade, I use portraits and other figurative work to explore the contrasting relationships between reality and construct. Though I am Inspired by the technical painting skills of Caravaggio, Gérôme, and Rockwell, I have also been largely influenced by fashion photography and a minimalist modern aesthetic. I create paintings that spotlight my perception of beauty while also embracing awkwardness. Because I feel it best represents myself and my story, I prefer unnatural and strange views of the form with a heavy dose of mystery.
