Collection: Lori DiPasquale - You Are The Sky
“You are the sky. Everything else – it's just the weather.”
Pema Chödrön
In a world filled with constant change and unpredictability, it is comforting to remember that we are the sky – there is an unchanging, expansive essence that lies within each of us.
Just as weather conditions come and go, so do the circumstances and events in our lives. Our experiences, emotions, and external situations are like passing weather patterns. They may bring turbulence or tranquility, joy or sorrow, uncertainty and challenges. The storm clouds may build and blow us around, but they do not define who we truly are. By being the witness to the weather of life, we are able to navigate through the storms with greater resilience and clarity.
Recognizing that we are the sky allows us to navigate life's storms with grace and see the inner connectedness and shared humanity in others, fostering compassion, understanding, and unity. Instead of focusing on the temporary weather of someone's actions or words, we can view them from a broader perspective, understanding that they too are simply experiencing their own personal weather patterns.
It has been a meditative exercise creating this body of work. I enjoyed painting images collected of landscapes and cloudscapes, painting the sky. Other times I preferred to paint interior landscapes, abstract expressions of feelings, struggles, or playful curiosity; painting with intention and understanding of this beautiful, freeing metaphor.
So, the next time you find yourself caught up in the challenges of life, take a moment to remember that you are the sky, and everything else will pass, just like the weather.
