As Above, So Below shows the intimate and difficult experience of love and love lost through abstract color and symbolism. The series explores the negative and positive aspects of intimate relationships and ways of coping when they come to an end. Meditation and reflection can be useful tools while navigating profound, even traumatic loss. These practices often come with pain in recognizing our own flawed human nature, as well as a new sense of comfort and clarity that things often happen as they need to. Through their intricate and deeply personal watercolor paintings, Chan invites you to reflect on those you’ve loved, lost, and the ways you’ve grown and healed in the aftermath.
